This  sacred tree

In Theravada Buddhism, this tree is said to have been used as the tree for achieved enlightenment, or Bodhi by the twenty fourth Lord Buddha called "Kassapa - කස්සප". The sacred plant is known as "Nuga - නුග" or "Maha nuga - මහ නුග" in Sri Lanka

We are blessed to have this life of life  in Narahenpita  with The BO Tree.

We saw we felt were energised on this evening of 11 nove 2017.Listening to  the sermon by Most Revered Dharmaratne  Senior lecture of University of Sri Lanka -Chief incumbent of Sri Mahabodhi viharaya Narahenpita.

The Bodhi tree at the Mahabodhi Temple is called the Sri Maha Bodhi. Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment By accident or by HIS SUPER EXTRAORDINARY intelligence he selected to meditate under this tree that gives the highest concentration  of oxygen per leaf surface area.

To get the mind work at its near best( average human use only 15 % of his capacity in Mind) primary need is the Oxygen

We are indeed blessed and lucky to have a BODHI TREE Coexisting with giant 400 plus year old #Nuga tree right at the Busy Junction of Narahenpita.Take care of it be blessed with it Just spend few minutes under and feel the difference.Come TAKE SHELTER-

The Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is also known to be the most sacred Bodhi tree. This came upon the Buddhists who performed rites and rituals near the Bodhi tree. The Bodhi tree was known to heal the ill.

When an individual became ill, one of his or her relatives AND THE SICK would visit the Bodhi tree to water  -and deep breath  and to meditate to achieve a calm mind.
